The Church of St. Ludmila (Kostel svaté Ludmily) is a typical neo-Gothic church at Náměstí Míru (Peace Square) in Prague's Vinohrady, built on plans of Josef Mocker in 1888–1892. It is named in honor of St. Ludmila of Bohemia. It is a brick-made three-aisle basilica with a transversal nave in the shape of the cross. The church front features two 60m-high towers with bells and the tall gable with portal above the main entrance with sculptures. The interior of the temple excels in a rich color windows, paintings and sculptures on which participated national artists Josef Václav Myslbek, Josef Čapek and František Ženíšek.The church was closed due to Metro construction and later for reconstruction in 1974–1992.

  • I walked past this church by accident, because it is in an area which is not central, but it's really beautiful! Gothic art lovers can not miss it! Outside there is a nice Park.

  • Beautiful church located in Prague 3 to see if you're in that area. Beautiful park surrounding it

  • It is located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. Just two metro stops away from Museum (Wenceslas square). I have visited Prague several times and I have to say that I do not know if the Church is more beautiful in winter with snow or summer sun. It's definitely worth coming.

  • Our favorite place in Prague 2. Beautiful and not crowded with tourists. Enjoy the beauty of Prague like a local would.
  • Very pretty church with enough space in front of it to admire it as a whole, interior has artfully painted roofs and pillars which adds a nice touch. Plenty of benches in front of it to sit and chat and admire the church
  • This church is just beautiful, with an amazing Gothic architecture. Make sure to see the inside to be awed even more.
  • make sure to check out this area at Easter time for a lovely market that isn't as overcrowded as others in the city:)
  • Beautiful church
