Church of Our Lady Victorious, Prague
(4.4/5 based on 950+ reviews on the web)
The first Baroque church built in the city, Church of Our Lady Victorious contains a wax statue of the infant Jesus, one of the most revered Roman Catholic relics in the world. Built in 1613 for the city's German-speaking Lutherans, the church passed to Carmelite hands in 1624, at the conclusion of the Thirty Years' War. The figure of Jesus, believed to have protected the city during that war, now rests on the church's central altar. The subject of a worldwide cult, the statue draws huge numbers of pilgrims from Catholic countries. To see the more than 70 costumes used to dress the figure for various religious occasions, visit the museum behind the church. • To get there was an undertaking by public transport, from where we Stare Mesto. In every way the Church is beautiful and worth seeing. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the baby Jesus clothing Museum that had closed recently. The Abbot is very personable, Genoa, Italian has many praiseworthy charitable activities around the world.

  • Very interesting church. Basically there's a famous Child Jesus statue and often has equally elaborate clothing either donated by other groups or for certain festivity. It's a slight walk from the city centre but I do recommend you to add into your itinerary.
  • Being Filipinos, my family is among the 86% who are Catholics in the Philippines. And this church is on the list of religious site to visit in Prague for its miraculous infant Jesus. We were not able to fully appreciate the status of The Holy Infant Jesus though because it was situated in the midsection of the church and there was an ongoing mass. My mom said the church already transferred the statue’s location. Nonetheless, we felt content seeing it and saying our prayers during our visit.
  • beautiful little church that is relatively off the tourism trail
  • Its spectacular. I have seen a mass and it is very ...wow. it is a must for praga.
  • Wonderful place.
