(4.7/5 based on 65 reviews on the web)
The Písek Stone Bridge is the oldest bridge on the area of Czech Republic and one of two oldest bridges in Central Europe, located in south Bohemian city of Písek. It was probably built in the 3rd quarter of the 13th century. It is sometimes called Stag Bridge because, according to legend, it was to be named after the first being to pass over it. At the time, town Písek was surrounded by deep woods, so the first being to cross the bridge was a stag. However, most local people calls it Old Bridge (starý most). It spans the Otava River, a tributary of the Vltava River. This bridge is in the gothic style with baroque statues and a cross. The length of the bridge is 109.75m and the width 6.25m. It is built on six pillars and has seven arches.Floods of 2002The bridge survived the floods in 2002. The flood water removed railings and some statues. After the flood, Písek started with the general reconstruction. The railings and statues were repaired; copy of one statue which was lost was created. The bridge is now supported by a net of concrete and iron tubes.

  • A beautiful view of the bridge is about Křižík's power plant, which arranged the city Sand as the first in the Czech Republic public lighting from the company Krizik. Fortunately, the flood bridge, or power plant, damaging enough to make good with your hands and the enthusiasm of the local's were unable to cope.

  • Not really interesting in my opinion. I have seen much more impressive old bridges. There are nice views of the bridge from the west side of the river.
  • A portable version of Prague Charles Bridge. Easy access to Pisek downtown from a parking lot/Kozlovna restaurant

  • Great experience, its like a small charles bridge at Prague. No turist at all whichc is always positive :)
  • One of the oldest bridges in Europe. It is not as beautiful as the Charles Bridge in Prague, but it is also not so crowded. Must-see!
  • Nice old bridge. Takes you from one side of the river and back :)
  • Dominanta Písku. Dokresluje skvělou jihočeskou atmosféru. Obecně Písek je super město na víkend, výlet nebo jen zastávku
  • Krásný most, doporučuji navštívit.
