Pilsner Urquell Brewery, Pilsen

(4.6/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Discover the birthplace of pilsner beer at Pilsner Urquell Brewery, located less than an hour southwest of Prague. Dating back to the 1840s, the brewery is the country's biggest exporter of domestically produced beer. Guided tours, the only way to enter the brewery, reveal the origins of the world-famous lager, produced for nearly 170 years using a recipe originally created by Bavarian master brewer Josef Groll. The tour offers you a chance to see the brewery's bottling plant and historical cellars, where you can taste unfiltered and unpasteurized pilsner beer poured from oak barrels. Check online for tour options and reserve your tickets by phone or e-mail. • Find the Brquerei with GPS is not easy. It is worth but in any case to look at the brewery. There are also best Czech cuisine in the flood of Brewery directly on the brewery grounds.

  • Enjoyed the tour. Was great value and tasting the beer from the oak barrels was something ive been waiting on for quite some time. It was fortunate to have my GF's beer as well.
  • Very nice tour of the brewery. You really have to taste the Pilsner straight from oak cask. There's the main courtyard where you can have drinks and snacks, sometimes events are being held here. The 5th of october is a big annual celebration day here.
  • The tour is a good time. Very informative and really takes you behind the scenes of this unique brewery. The beer tasting is very exciting in the caves. The food I. The restaurant is also quite tasty. Highly recommend a day trip from Prague to this brewery.
  • I was surprised at how great this tour was. I wasn't the biggest fan of Pilsner Urquell until I took the tour and found out how much work goes into making this refreshing beer. The tour was great and incredibly informative. It ends with a tour of the lagering tunnels under the grounds of the brewery which will blow your mind. Well worth the nominal fee for the tour, and an easy stop-over on your way to Prague.
  • Cool to see it, the grounds are nice and the place is huge. The local restaurant here is similar to the same chain in Prague. Food and service were good, beer was better :)
