Museum of Glass MOSER, Karlovy Vary

4.3
#1 of 15 in Museums in Karlovy Vary Region
Take a look at the 150-year-old history of glassworks manufacture at Museum of Glass MOSER. The newly designed, modern exhibit features the oldest examples of glasswork all the way to contemporary collections. As you watch glassmakers at work, you can smell the aroma of burnt-out wooden molds. Pick up an audio guide to explore at your own pace. The factory store offers an array of the Moser colors, such as amethyst, rose, blue, aurora, and green. Ask them to ship anything you buy so you don't risk breakage during your travels. • Stay in Karlovy Vary, we could not omit a tour glass factories. And because we have decided to address the local Triathlon (visit the porcelain one Thun in a new role, Jan Becher Museum and glass works = gift a small package) we in the glassworks tour museums and smelters. With a tour we were not very happy, young tour guide, she was quite reluctantly, tour of glassworks was carried out by us visitors up into the English-speaking, Russian-speaking and English-speaking. Then, in a guided tour of talking individually to split a group like this. To me like a good impression. From the interpretation that the person does not have the power, in the glassworks is enough noise.

  • A wonderful crystal glass museum not far from the heart of Karlovy Vary. It shows the history and developement of all the styles typical for Moser. It's also possible to visit the actual glass blowing...  more »

  • The factory is absolutely beautiful! The crystal here is very beautiful and of excellent quality. The price reflects the quality. If you are looking for Bohemian crystal on a budget, this is not the place for you. However, the staff is very nice and will allow you to take pictures of the crystal.
  • A wonderful experience with beautiful crystal and expert set of craftsmen. We arrived for the morning tour and were rewarded with a nice espresso, museum, and factory tour. Every piece is born of sand, fire, breath, timber, tinted with reactive metals and finished with diamonds.
  • The tour was worthless. The tour guide crammed the few English speaking visitors with a big Czech visitors. She didn't pay attention to the English speakers and only explained very briefly compared to the Czech group
  • I would give 5 stars except they weren't doing the glass making tour according to their published schedule. So we went at the appropriate time, but didn't get to do it.
  • Very disappointing tour. The tour combines English-speaking and Czech tourist. So you will get little explanation here and there but not much. Safety standtard is a bit of a joke. Staff at the factory will carry extremely hot glasses that are just made to the cooling stations. This is fine, but there is no barrier between the working stations and tourists! The staff would try their best to avoid you but you could easily get into trouble if you're so busy looking at everything around you and not where you're going. The tour is extremely short and not much substance to it. We asked later and was told if you want to see engraving and more intricate work, you have to book the VIP Tour at least a week in advance. Would be helpful if they let us know what the differences are from the start! We didn't know from looking at their website and they didn't tell us when we were at the museum taking the tour. If you're interested in learning about glassmaking, please look into Harzkristall in Derenburg (near Wernigerode in Germany)!
