  • Nice castle to visit to spend some free time. Well maintained building but all the info is in Czeck only, and no maps available.  more »
  • A castle worthy of recommending sympathizers of the medieval buildings. You can explore walls, climb to the top. In the courtyard of the often there are shows and events related to the middle ages.

  • Pushed to visit the birthplace of Leos Janacek, after the House, looking for the monument to the "cunning little vixen", we headed back to the Castle. We knew that the monument is located inside, so we tackled the climb more than a kilometer. Admission fee, remains of the medieval castle and a church. Luckily the Castle has not been transformed into "Baroque" or, as they say with ugly expression, it wasn't "into Baroque style". Yes, because here in Czechia, towards the 1600 unleashed a fury Restorer, who has "into Baroque style" all, castles, Romanesque and Gothic churches, often resulting in a uniform or, if you prefer, a homogenization of monuments, destroying nearly all traces of the middle ages and Renaissance. Not to mention the fury of "Neo-Gothic", which in the late 19th century, in the wake of British fashion (the castle of Windsor) has prompted many noble families turn their castles in pseudo-Gothic "houses". But, back to Castle Hukvaldy, descent gave us beautiful trees, animals in the wild (Ibex or wild sheep in the distance?) and especially the monument to the "cunning little vixen", namely the little creature a masterpiece (among many) of Janacek.

  • Beautiful castle from 13th century situated on a hill surrounded by a park. It is one of the largest Moravian castles and well worth a visit.
  • Nice walk up the hill. Excellent view from the castle look out. Very interesting to see the history of the castle.
  • Well preserved ruins nestled inside of a forest with herds of wild deer and sheep. Be sure to stop at the local restaurants nearby for some authentic Czech food and beer.
  • Nice medieval castle rebuilt during the 19th century. Perfect view. You can see lots of trees with overground roots around the access path.
  • Vast and beautiful castle ruin. Highly recommended!
