Create an itinerary including The State Chateau of Hluboká
Founded by the kings of Bohemia, The State Chateau of Hluboká sits in the middle of an English-style landscape garden. Although the castle originally dates back to the 13th century, its current appearance is mostly the result of a 19th-century reconstruction project, intended to give it a facelift based on the Tudor architectural style. A protected cultural monument, the castle offers guided tours of its tower, ceremonial rooms, private apartments, and servants' kitchens. Before you join a tour, get the flavor of the place by strolling through the garden, open daily and free to enter. Check the website for a two-part castle booklet, detailing the castle's history and available tours. • Not the usual delicate and sweet castle, a strong exemplar of architecture with good walks and an eye candy structure. Good stop for a maybe 1 hour.

  • You have to join a tour to see inside and there are 4 to choose from, each showing a different part of the castle. We did Tour 1 which is called the Representation Rooms and lasted around an hour...

  • We did a tour of part of the inside and it was interesting. We were there too late to see more but would have liked to. The grounds are impressive/nice to walk around too. Make sure to head down to the square too. We stayed off the main center and loved hanging out in the collection of hotels/restaurant patios.
  • A really interesting chateau with a lot history. The tour is very informative, although currently only in Czech, they had an English guide to read. The art gallery there had some thought provoking art on display.
  • One of the most beautiful Chateaus in the whole Czech Republic and Europe, I can highly recommend visiting this place. For the best experience, you can take a small train that rides to the castle entrance around the city, also if you have time you should visit one of the 4 guided tours available in 4 languages. Unfortunately, the gardens lost a bit of their charm and compared to the last years they got smaller.
  • What an amazing castle! The guide was very well-spoken and presented the history of this place perfectly. I bought tickets for the inside tour, but the only unfortunate part was the fact you cannot take any pictures.
  • This castle is definitely stunning. Unfortunately only the ground floor is available to visitors during the autumn and winter... I'm totally recommend!
