Trip Planner: Europe / Czech Republic / Bohemia / South Bohemian Region / Hluboka nad Vltavou / The State Chateau of Hluboká
Founded by the kings of Bohemia, The State Chateau of Hluboká sits in the middle of an English-style landscape garden. Although the castle originally dates back to the 13th century, its current appearance is mostly the result of a 19th-century reconstruction project, intended to give it a facelift based on the Tudor architectural style. A protected cultural monument, the castle offers guided tours of its tower, ceremonial rooms, private apartments, and servants' kitchens. Before you join a tour, get the flavor of the place by strolling through the garden, open daily and free to enter. Check the website for a two-part castle booklet, detailing the castle's history and available tours. Put The State Chateau of Hluboká at the forefront of your travel plans using our Hluboka nad Vltavou route planner.

The State Chateau of Hluboká reviews
Walking around this castle and the surrounding grounds is a joy. The castle reminded us of Beauty and the Beast and we were enchanted. The walk up to castle from the small town is enjoyable. The... more »
Not the usual delicate and sweet castle, a strong exemplar of architecture with good walks and an eye candy structure. Good stop for a maybe 1 hour. more »
You have to join a tour to see inside and there are 4 to choose from, each showing a different part of the castle. We did Tour 1 which is called the Representation Rooms and lasted around an hour... more »
This was such a beautiful castle! I highly recommend visiting! It’s in such good condition and so many Czech fairytale movies were filmed here. Take the time to spend almost all day here and take the tour. Get lost in the gardens and be prepared to feel like a royalty for the day!
One of the most beautiful castles in Czech Republic. Gallery, gardens and interior is worth seeing. It is little hard to find - signs leading you towards the castle and parking are very small and not visible enough.
This is just an amazing place to visit. The garden is beautiful as well as the chateau. We did a tour as well as climbed to the top of the tower to see the amazing view. It was a steep and long climb, but the view was worth it. Also, interesting fact, people can elope or get married here.
Beautiful castle and beautiful surrounding too. The outside but also the interior of this castle is great. Unfortunately they didn't have an English tour last Sunday, but we could join the Czech tour with English information, which was fine. Too bad it isn't allowed to take pictures, because I would have loved to have some pictures from the interior.
Very nice and maintained historic landmark. There is a 8 possible guided exhibitions round. We choose representation rooms, kitchen (i was there with my wife :) ) and of course tower. We were fully satisfied and recommend it. It takes around 2,5 hour - all 3 rounds.
