Egon Schiele Art Centrum, Cesky Krumlov
(4.1/5 based on 170+ reviews on the web)
Learn more about the life and art of a major figurative painter of the early 20th century and protege of Gustav Klimt at Egon Schiele Art Centrum. Apart from paintings and drawings, the center houses an exhibit about the artist's life and work, including childhood photographs, sketchbooks, his studio furniture, and a plaster death mask. His nude portraits are rich in anatomical detail and were controversial at the time, forcing the artist to leave town after only two years. A big painted city map, in a small room on the top floor, shows the locations of the various landscapes in Schiele's paintings. Amenities include a cafe and a shop selling books, posters, postcards, and T-shirts. • Great show Act, Amadas, together with Plachtem and Hněvkovským form the dynamic trio of men forming in energizing synbióze with nature. Absolutely ecstatic experience carried over directly from the jungle to the canvas by the artist, color strength and precision images of emotive detailed perception of the nature of cults.

  • I came to see the Egon Schiele pieces, and stayed to experience so many other beautiful works. And all in a unique and dramatic space, which is well worth the effort to visit.
  • Even if you don't love the work of Egon Schiele, check out this small museum. It is more than the sum of its parts. The story of Schiele's mentors and colleagues brings to life an entire generation of...  more »

  • Superb pernament exposition of Egon Schiele. Didn't like Otto Placht that much, but the amount of his works displayed was overwhelming.
  • Great little cafe. Comfy (if strange) interior. Beautiful terrace. VERY odd concrete furniture on the street. Free wifi and there is a children's playroom.
  • actually my score is 3.5. well the museum is really unique but no enough to see Egon's pictures I expected. all staffs were really nice.
  • It was a little bit boring, there were just a few of Schiele.
  • Amazing
