Cesky Krumlov Castle, Cesky Krumlov

Dominating the surrounding city from its location on a high rock promontory, Cesky Krumlov Castle is a medieval complex of about 40 buildings, situated around five courtyards and a vast park. Dating back to the middle of the 13th century, the complex covers a total area of about 7 hectares (17 acres). The castle's atmospheric storerooms house a collection of stone statues and sacred art, accrued over the centuries by the city's many rulers. You can stroll through the grounds on your own, but access to some of the interior sections is by guided tour only. Check the website for opening hours and available tour options before you make the trip. • I love this place. It is so charming. I have been here already several times, but it never gets old. I hope that some parts will be renovated soon. In summer you can rent a canoe and paddle through the city... :)
  • Not only is the castle itself very interesting, but you get a picturesque view of the village below. you want to be sure to go all the way through the castle to the bridge, called Plášťový most, that connects it to the building behind it, from this bridge you can see the river rounding around the village and creating this perfect picturesque scene of a river medieval village. For me it was this scenery that made it worth the train ride from Prague
  • Nice castle with guided tours in Czech and English. They say that there are bears living there. No sure if it is true. I have been there twice and didn't see one. The view to the castle is especially nice when you look at it from the terrace of some restaurant nearby while having a glass of wine.
  • Not as impressive as I hoped for without taking a tour. From October 31 on, there are almost no tours available, even though there are still thousands of visitors per day. From what you can see outside, a lot of the walls have been re-painted so it's not so much original. Still a great thing to see.
  • Beautiful place, make sure you get there early in the morning to avoid the crowds as it gets really busy in the afternoon. The view from the tower is breathtaking.
