Cesky Krumlov Castle, Cesky Krumlov

Must see · Historic Site · Castle
Dominating the surrounding city from its location on a high rock promontory, Cesky Krumlov Castle is a medieval complex of about 40 buildings, situated around five courtyards and a vast park. Dating back to the middle of the 13th century, the complex covers a total area of about 7 hectares (17 acres). The castle's atmospheric storerooms house a collection of stone statues and sacred art, accrued over the centuries by the city's many rulers. You can stroll through the grounds on your own, but access to some of the interior sections is by guided tour only. Check the website for opening hours and available tour options before you make the trip. • This is a must visit when in the country and can be easily done as a day trip from Prague if you are using Prague as a base. Lovely castle with great views. Highly recommended.  more »
  • With the Covid 19 restrictions - wearing a mask anywhere indoors, it was quite a challenge to climb to the top of the tower. Had to stop several times to catch my breath with the face mask on. There.....  more »
  • The best views and the most interesting buildings are in the castle area, worth to climb to the tower and spend the 20 minutes museum walk. Quite a hen this place.  more »
  • This is a beautiful castle in a beautiful town. I really enjoyed walking through the castle grounds. What was most spectacular though was the castle baroque theatre. I recommend booking tickets to visit the theatre online because there is a limit to the number of people who are allowed to access it daily. The views the from castle are also another reason to visit.
  • One of the nicest castle in the Czech Republic, very romantic baroque/gothic style. Gardens are large and relaxing for walk or just chill. Views to the old town are breathtaking! Unfortunately too many tourists around. You can take two tours around the castle, or just visit the main tower. Also the live bear is living nearby at the entrance.
  • A beautiful place. Highly recommended. You won't regret the long travel from Prague and back. If possible plan to stay a night here. Amazing, calm and picturesque little town of Pre-war.
  • Very nice place for visitors. BUT be careful when you buy tickets - 1. and 2. rounds are completely different what you should not to be able to find in ticket place. Also do not forget to see castle garden, lake and theater inside them. I also recommend a lot only walk to old town under the castle. It is very nice and there is a lot of places to taste traditional Czech (also a lot of other) kitchen and take a rest on coffee etc. ❤️ Cesky Krumlov old city ❤️
  • Nicest castle visit so far! Great museum and view from the tower is great. Remember tower/museum ticket is sold separately from the castle tour. Both are well worth to buy.
