The State Chateau of Hluboká, Bohemia
(4.7/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Founded by the kings of Bohemia, The State Chateau of Hluboká sits in the middle of an English-style landscape garden. Although the castle originally dates back to the 13th century, its current appearance is mostly the result of a 19th-century reconstruction project, intended to give it a facelift based on the Tudor architectural style. A protected cultural monument, the castle offers guided tours of its tower, ceremonial rooms, private apartments, and servants' kitchens. Before you join a tour, get the flavor of the place by strolling through the garden, open daily and free to enter. Check the website for a two-part castle booklet, detailing the castle's history and available tours. • Beautiful castle just a few kilometers from the regional capital Ceske Budejovice. Very interesting the carvings and wooden Interior realizations. Ample guided to do with strips of felt that will be provided at the beginning of the tour. Very brave guides who speak Italian. See also the workshop of blacksmith shortly before entering the Castle, where you can see great handmade knives and bladed weapons.

  • Of course in the summer this place is much prettier and not so cold, we were in November, the Greens are not so much. Tour cost per person CZK 140, taking pictures and you can't walk, only with a guided tour. Excursion to the Czech language, the Russian we didn't have time to. We were given a leaf in which everything is explained in Russian. The problem with parking, it only for hotel guests at the Castle at the bottom, you can leave the car in the city parking lot, but then climb a steep rise.

  • Lovely place, worth to visit ... The most beautiful castle in Czech republic. Very friendly staff, handicapped visitors welcome as well, with limited choice, but still optional tours.
  • Beautiful castle on lovely grounds. Day we went it was closed but you could still walk around a fair amount seeking enough to make it worth the detour
  • Beautiful castle, well maintained with a wonderful garden. The guided tour is certainly recommended although not cheap it's worth looking inside and the guide provides alot of useful information. There are tours in English
