  • About 40 km away from Prague is the wonderful Konopiště Castle which was the residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Este. An uphill path in the Woods connects the parking lot with the Palace, allowing visitors to take a first look at the surrounding landscape. The Castle, well maintained both inside and outside, retains all the original furniture and houses an extensive collection of historical weapons and hunting trophies. The guides of the Palace unfortunately do not speak Italian, so the tour is through audio-guide. The Council eventually to pay an external Guide for a visit more deep of various rooms and the surrounding garden. The huge park in which is situated the castle is also open to visitors and runs along a small lake. It is not difficult to see squirrels and rabbits in the bushes and often some fawns come closer to tourists in search of food. It is certainly a charming place, perfect for those who love nature and want to spend a day of peace and quiet surrounded by nature.

  • Visit The Konopiště. An epigraph. "Almost came, said on-the-go tearing Susanin coconut." Yes, Yes, that's right. We went to this adventure, and finally reached. Previously was a serious homework, information, logistics and ways waste. Prepared as offensive. Many nuances. But everything turned out and that's what counts. From the very beginning. Experience traveling around the country was pretty rich. And are not agents of organized excursions, although acknowledge convenience of this pastime. As always there are pros and cons, and their relationship and affect the decision. Convenient, sure, took, took, shown, was brought in. But! There is no guarantee that showed and told about what you wanted to see and learn. Because the tours thing organized, and guide people too, with all the consequences. There are exceptions, but there is no way to verify each. A lot of them, and you have little time, as a rule. That is why we travel themselves, where possible. We enjoy the process of preparation. Well here we are. Better expectation of happiness the happiness. It seems to me there is something. About this we talked so many times. All the time we wanted to visit, but nothing concrete. Trips were ...

  • Great castle. One can feel the influence of the last residents, and the important part they played in history and the beginning of world war I. An interesting difference is that whereas in most mansions children are isolated from parents and often live on a different floor or wing, in this case the parents seem to have been very connected to their children, and their bedrooms were right next to each other. Save time to walk the beautiful grounds. We walked from the train station through the grounds, and it was definitely worth it. My wife's favorite castle in Czechia.
  • One of the most interesting castles in the Czech republic. The interior is very rich and authentic, in the outside there are bears in the gardens and also other forest animals on the way up to the castle
  • An interesting castle near a nice lake. It belonged to the Crown Prince Ferdinand, whose assassination in Sarajevo triggered WWI. Has a large, interesting weapons collection and huge number of trophies.
  • Beautiful, historic castle and grounds. Extremely knowledgeable guides. Definitely recommend a guided tour of the castle.
  • Beautiful place! I don't understand why there is only one bear! The bear was sad and bored!
