Konopiste Castle, Bohemia

(4.5/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Konopiste Castle became famous as the last residence of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, heir to the Austro-Hungarian throne, whose assassination in Sarajevo triggered World War I. Stop by to the castle's museum to see the bullet that killed him, which was fired by Gavrilo Princip. Take a guided tour to see Ferdinand's residential rooms, a shooting hall with moving targets (he was an avid hunter), and a garden with Italian Renaissance statues and greenhouses. Explore the third-largest European collection of armory and medieval weapons, as well as a large collection of antlers. • Konopiste is around an hour away from Prague by train, then around half an hour walk from the station to the castle itself. There is a small shuttle train from the castle to the station and back, but ...  more »
  • With a friend we visited in the winter and Konopiště Castle under the snow, it was perhaps even more beautiful than in the summer. No tourists, only peace and beautiful castle in addition in the beautiful weather. The magic also ubiquitous peacocks. Only icy roads are slightly dangerous in the winter months.

  • Konopiště is a beautiful castle in its present form at the end of the 19th century, and in General, leading its history since the 13th century. It is very compact. Suddenly a small external filling and surprisingly rich inside. Around the castle is a great green area. There is a garden where peacocks roam. There is a very large park in English style. Separately tell about domestic interiors. You can enter only with guided tours. There is very rich and very beautiful! The Castle divided into 3 parts from commercial interests, to borrow money for 3 trips. You can take any part, but can be all three. The fourth kind-the hunting excursions. This visit only those premises. that contain hunting trophies, weapons, armor, and all that stuff. If you want to precisely the uniqueness and diversity-take a hunting trip. She has a room 4. If you want a common-any other. Photo from the year 2016 prices stick. Interiors too. Getting there: by car, from there turn Benešová konopiště. About 50 km from Prague. Can be driven on a suburban train from the main station to Benešov (Benesov u Prahi). Go every hour. From the station, approximately 20-30 minutes depending on your speed. First a little around town, then go along the beautiful trail through the Park around the Castle. Differences in height between station to lock No.

  • Lovely Castle and Grounds... take a walk around the lake it's magic. This area is nicer in April than July as the temperature can stop you from exploring.
