Cave
The Moravian Karst is a karst landscape and protected nature reserve to the north of Brno in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, located near the town of Blansko. It encompasses a number of notable geological features, including roughly 1100 caverns and gorges and covers an area of roughly 92 km². Currently, five of the cave systems, Býčí skála Cave and Stránská skála are open for public tours and exploration. This region is also home to one of the most important single geological features in the Czech Republic, the Macocha Abyss, a gorge 138 m deep, which was formed when the ceiling of an underground cave chamber collapsed. Macocha Abyss is also the place where the Punkva River begins to run underground through the Punkva cave system, and two small pools of water are visible at the surface. The Moravian Karst is a popular tourist attraction in the local area, and large numbers of tourists visit in the summer months. In addition to caverns, the nature preserve also contains well-marked bicycle trails and hiking paths to explore.

  • The area is full of small caves and it is worth a day trip. We visited three caves in one day. Punkva cave is the most famous one, but we found Balcarka Cave the most impressive. It is a bit outside o...  more »
  • To the caves Punkva walked through a beautiful forest. Very unusual. The cave itself struck. Especially when we are transported by boat. No photo and not one video does not transmit the whole beauty of this amazing place! A miracle of nature! Very interesting excursion. When sailed by boat, tour guide asked not to photograph, because of outbreaks scared bats.

  • Here is the second phase of the Moravian Karst. It is a very picturesque place. We bought the tickets with a stop at the mount on the personal is very friendly!. This option for all cost additional 250 kroons. Before climbing on the personal is very friendly! we meal at a local Café Russian Borsch, grkdku and trout. All for 330 kronor. Duck what is Moravian Karst is the largest cave system in the Czech Republic. Than it is remarkable: its length 24 km, it flows underground river Punkva cave temperature and 8-10 degrees Celsius, so warm things are required. With us in these caves was the camera crew RTR. Duck here we sit in and around personal is very friendly! 2-3 km drive to the beautiful mountain forest among huge rocks. Then we run into the cave. It's cold! Everywhere looks not all highlighting really cool. So we walk around 400 meters through the caverns, in spite of stalagmites, stalactites and helictites of karst. But it's not the most important thing. The main thing is the macocha abyss. This gap was formed when a collapsing ceiling, huge caves. They say here filmed one episode Lord of the rings! We stood on a platform near the underground lakes at a depth of 126 meters. And on top of us watched the tourists that come here don't hit. After this beauty we boarded a boat and 450 meters sailed into narrow caves Punkva River.

  • Nice place to visit. Full of natural beauties.
  • Great cave tours. Interesting formations. The boat ride through the cave is unique. The "abyss" is interesting to see. I saw it in the winter so there weren't big crowds. But, I'm guessing because it wasn't tourist season, the guides spoke little English.
  • Just wonderful... Good for cycling... :-) Bike friendly places.
  • Nice Restaurant in a good place. Perfect for a beer Break while hiking!
