Church of Profitis Elias, Protaras

(1,500+ reviews on the web)
Church
With a typical orthodox interior that features biblical images on walls and ceilings, Church of Profitis Elias stands above towns and valleys overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. You'll need to climb some 150 stairs to reach this small stone church with one dome and a bell tower, built in Byzantine style. Visitors often tie a piece of cloth or a ribbon to a nearby tree, signifying a remembrance of a loved one. At the top, you'll be 100 m (330 ft) above area surroundings with expansive views of the bay bellow. Be sure to take water with you, as the climb can be tiring. • Very beautiful to visit the breakfast. Sacred space with stone chapel dedicated to the Prophet Elijah. Good time to visit is late in the afternoon and after a nice dinner. Ten minutes and something from Protaras Hotels. You can sit down for a bit while gazing at the deep blue waters of the cosmopolitan area of Protaras. Should a few steps this fortress.. about 150 .. you don't and so difficult ... worth the trouble. Most of the time drosizesai a light breeze, with a beautiful murmur as a reward for the stairs just you've climbed ... can it and welcome it.
