Church of Profitis Elias
With a typical orthodox interior that features biblical images on walls and ceilings, Church of Profitis Elias stands above towns and valleys overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. You'll need to climb some 150 stairs to reach this small stone church with one dome and a bell tower, built in Byzantine style. Visitors often tie a piece of cloth or a ribbon to a nearby tree, signifying a remembrance of a loved one. At the top, you'll be 100 m (330 ft) above area surroundings with expansive views of the bay bellow. Be sure to take water with you, as the climb can be tiring. Church of Profitis Elias Reviews

Посетили на закате, с горы прекрасные виды. Храм небольшой, можно зажечь свечи. Рядом с храмом дерево желаний, необходимо загадать желание и повязать ленту. В зимний сезон здесь тихо и безлюдно. more »
Visited at sunset, with the mountain beautiful views. The temple is small, you can light candles. Next to the temple tree of desires, you need to make a wish and tie a ribbon. In the winter season it is quiet and deserted.View original -
Поднимались дважды - днем и вечером. Прекрасное место и виды. Как и везде в Греции и на Кипре очень демократично и атмосферно. Стоит посетить. more »
We went up twice - in the afternoon and in the evening. It's a beautiful place and views. As elsewhere in Greece and Cyprus is very democratic and atmospheric. It's worth a visit.View original -
We walked to this church from the Hotel Evalena taking about 25 minutes. It is signposted from the main road. The church is accessible from a small park area up along flight of stone steps with a hand... more »

Very beautiful byzantine church. You need to take the stairs to reach it. It has a really nice panoramic view of Fig Tree Bay. Better to visit at sunset.

Lovely views and quite sad seeing all the ribbons of remembrance tied to the trees. Puts things into perspective. 160 steps the wife counted but she didn't go into the church (another 3 steps)

168 steps up nice views. You can tie a ribbon on the tree with the name of your loved one n a prayer ...light a candle X

I visited many years ago, this time to leave a memory ribbon for my father who recently passed away, 150 steps is an actual killer, I don't think there isn't anyone who doesn't struggle on the way up, but at least you can buy water at the top, very poignant seeing all the ribbons and photos of people's relatives, the view of the sun down is spectacular, inside is a tray of lit candles but a sign saying please don't light candles, but then a box of candles with a donation pot 🤔, I put in 2 euros and lit one for my dad and less than a minute later the shopkeeper came in and pulled them all out, so think they need to make it more clear if you can or can't light them, climb down is much easier

A bit of a walk but definitely worth it. I liked the church and the view of the landscape from there. An absolute gem to visit when in the area.
