  • On the central square in Paralimni are three churches, the oldest of them is built in the 13rd century. It is called the square of three churches. The largest and the youngest is the Church of St. George, which is hard to miss when you arrive to the center of town. This church was built in the year 1965. Now the Church of St. George is the main in the city. By the way, is one of the few churches in Cyprus, which visited our Patriarch Kirill during his visit to Cyprus on 09/06/2012. Next to the new Church of St. George is an older church and St. George's too. Them and distinguish − old and new. The oldest was built in the mid 19th century during the Turkish rule in Cyprus. At one time, Turks did not allow Cypriots to have on the churches of the Bell Tower. But here in 1856, after the intervention of the Russian Empire, the Turks made concessions. And this, again built a church already had a Bell-Tower. There is another Chapel, located on the same square with the other two. This is the Church of the Virgin Mary most of age − "three sisters". The Church was built in the 13th century. Today it is the Church, and at the Museum. The Church is named in honour of St. Anne (mother of Mary), or Church of our Lady, i.e. has two names. A small church was built in the shape of a cross with a dome and is a model of Byzantine mediaeval. Before the East side church cemetery, not preserved till our days. Central door semicircular window in the form of a small arrow. During the construction of the Church was razrisovana frescoes have survived to our time, not all. The inside is not.
