Paphos Harbour Castle, Paphos

3.0
At the edge of Paphos Seafront walkway, the robust, cube-shaped Paphos Harbour Castle served the Byzantine Empire, the Lusignans, the Ottomans, the Greeks, and the English. The medieval castle was rebuilt twice--once after an earthquake in 1222 and again at the end of the 16th century. It also served as a storage area for salt. Enter the castle by crossing an old bridge over a small pond, and then climb the stairs inside to reach the top. From here you'll get some of the best views of the seafront and the Mediterranean Sea. • You have to pay to go into the castle. You go up some stairs to the top and you have a beautiful view. and that's it.  more »
  • Nice to go here in the evening to watch the sunset..its at the head of the harbour and worth going inside for a look. There is often outdoor cultural shows outside it..eg concerts  more »
  • Although this is called a "castle", it was constructed as one of two watchtowers - the other has been destroyed. The ground floor, which is free, has a few interesting photos, but to there is a charge...  more »

  • Lovely place to sit and have a glass of wine and watch the boats come and go. Prices are slightly higher but well worth it.
  • I couldn't get in today, because of the prep going on outside for a concert. I've been in before; and, as others have said here, there isn't a great deal to see. Still, I found it interesting and there are some luvly views from the roof.
  • Disappointing attraction. No signage outside to say you can go in. Most the projectors, lights and attractions werjt workings and nothing was interesting or telling you about the history, you just some paintings shoved in rooms. Comprising of 2 floors (Ground and roof) entry fee was €2.50 each. You do get a nice view from the top but looking inland is ruined by large sets of seating which ruins the view inland. Looking out to see was a nice view but will only fill 15minutes at most. Personally I'd avoid.
  • One nice view of the sea, rest is rooftops, carparks, and seating. Not a single projector or information screen was working and only half the stone rooms were even lit so seeing anything inside them almost impossible, minimal signs with its history or even a sign to say it's open to the public. Entry is really cheap though.
  • Nice tourist attraction for anyone with an interest in history. Cheap entry cost. Its not an attraction you can spend all day at but good for an hour or so to wonder around and enjoy the castle.
