Create an itinerary including Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery
See Chrysorrogiatissa Monastery with its own winery, featuring vividly colored orthodox frescoes and collections of priceless relics and icons. According to legend, a local monk came across a miraculous icon of the Virgin Mary painted by Luke the Evangelist that was washed out to sea; he collected it and dedicated this monastery to the icon in 1152. The present building, which dates to 1770, hosts an important Cypriot religious ceremony and holds fine vintage wine. View a gold- and silver-plated icon of the Virgin Mary at the gallery, and browse through Byzantine and post-Byzantine collections. You'll also find a rustic cafe on site. • Really worth a visit - we actually went to see it while on a tour around Easter and they were getting ready with a flower arrangement. It was so interesting to see. There is also a winery below...

  • This is the place if you need few hours of peace. The view from balcony/terrace blower out minds, we were just sitting there for a while and enjoying fascinating landscape. This is a small monastery, so it's quite empty which is great. Vine cellar and church were interesting to see. And you MUST buy vine here, it is very cheap (5€ for a bottle) and really really tasty. To wrap it up: nice and peaceful place.
  • A beautiful, serene and well kept monastery. Lucky to have visited during an atmospheric fog. Excellent shop selling monastery wine (nice Riesling), books and religious items
  • Beautiful monastery with stunning views of the valley. We also bought some wine from their winery and they were so friendly and informative. Worth a visit.
  • I loved this tour to Monastry Nice place to set and drink something with a great view Highly recommended to visit when you are in Cyprus
  • Little monastery with some stunning views of the reservoir and surroundings. The abbot there was quiet and didn't say much. You pretty much have to navigate around the place yourself with no signage to guide you. The cafe outside is a slight respite but it doesn't offer a wide variety to eat. Good for a quick coffee or beverage before you move off to the next stop.
