Cyprus, officially the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the Eastern Mediterranean and the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean. It is located south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon, northwest of Israel and Palestine, north of Egypt, and southeast of Greece. The earliest known human activity on the island dates to around the 10th millennium BC. Archaeological remains from this period include the well-preserved Neolithic village of Khirokitia, and Cyprus is home to some of the oldest water wells in the world. Cyprus was settled by Mycenaean Greeks in two waves in the 2nd millennium BC. As a strategic location in the Middle East, it was subsequently occupied by several major powers, including the empires of the Assyrians, Egyptians and Persians, from whom the island was seized in 333 BC by Alexander the Great. Subsequent rule by Ptolemaic Egypt, the Classical and Eastern Roman Empire, Arab caliphates for a short period, the French Lusignan dynasty and the Venetians, was followed by over three centuries of Ottoman rule between 1571 and 1878 .

Where to stay in Nicosia

Despite being the country's capital, Nicosia is not as geared toward tourists as the resorts on Cyprus' sunny coast. Hotels tend to be geared toward business travelers but provide a comfortable stay. Renting a vacation apartment may be preferable option for many, as they enable you to live more like locals. The greater Nicosia area spreads far and wide, so stay near the old city to access the most popular attractions, bars, and restaurants on foot. For an economical option, look for lodging on the north side of the city.

  • For shopping its ok but i bought most of my items to take home outside from street vendors at a more affordable price.. its ok but no special attractions .. but i guess good for shopping . not my bag  more »
  • I went for the mall to be very big and awesome with many shops, but it was too small and boring, I really didn't enjoyed it, no variety of anything.  more »
  • Well, I am sure you have been in shopping malls. I cant really understand why a tourist would like to go there... it's a mall with small shops (and expensive prices too).  more »

  • Good and probably excellent for Cyprus but not great by UK standards. Free parking and food court good but range of shops limited.
  • Largest mall in Nicosia. However, very few shops inside. Well decorated.
  • Good shops, coffee places and food. Spacious and suitable for children.
  • Good for shopping and coffee break.Parking for free.Big smoking open air area.
  • If you're coming from places such as Dubai, U.K, Germany then this mall will only be underwhelming. Nevertheless, a pretty solid shopping centre.
