Kourion (Curium), Limassol

(4.7/5 based on 1,600+ reviews on the web)
Wander into Ancient Roman and Byzantine ruins at Kourion (Curium) for a look at the remains of houses, monuments, markets, baths, and an intact 3,500-seat theater. Although the site had been inhabited in Neolithic times from five millennia BCE, the town is believed to date back to the 13th century BCE. It supported an uprising against Persia in the 4th century BCE and was used by Alexander the Great. See mosaic floors from the 3rd and 4th centuries CE, private residences of the rich dating back to the 4th and 5th centuries CE, and a 5th century CE early Christian basilica at the site. Children touch the antiquity was fascinating, so much so that many guys Ancient Greece-theme history lessons in school this year (material for further discussion). A large amphitheatre, columns, tiles, remains of Roman baths. Beautiful views of the sea and the surrounding area of Kourion. See photos!

  • ... and every ancient ruins-be sure to visit. Me somehow more total availability of sewerage struck in the city, notwithstanding the age. :) Mosaic, sometimes nice to have survived; each piece is signed-what is it and why it was used. Viewing platforms with benches with awning. Judging on overgrown paths, hardly anyone gets to them, and for good reason-especially girls really advise go there places among the rocks grow incredibly delicate purple flowers, nowhere. In the Coliseum be sure to try to stand on the bottom, in the Center, put someone upstairs and sing something or tell. Incredible sound! We mjaukali on the queue. :) Open until 17, entrance 4.5 euros per person, there is free ample parking. Check-in from the road, there's a pointer. There is an information centre, where you can take a map and a brochure in Russian. Nearby, if you want to continue the adventure, there are stables where you can ride horses (exact address will not, but seen from the observation deck). And strawberry farm with horse-same prices:)) 4 euro for a small packaging strawberries + all sorts of jam, fruit. Worth a peek, because Strawberry grows there in limbo.
