Kyrenia Harbour, Kyrenia

With a recognizably carefree Mediterranean feel, Kyrenia Harbour makes you feel at home among its stone buildings and charming boats tied at the docks. Overlooking the 16th-century Venetian castle on one side and showcasing the dramatic Besparmak Mountains on the other, the harbor provides a surprising break from the hot and dusty capital city and its surroundings. Check out an array of specialty shops, cafes, and bistros, and look for clothes and spices at colorful Middle Eastern-styled markets. Stroll the cobbled streets and take in the views, or stop for a cup of hot Turkish coffee. Plan to visit Kyrenia Harbour and other customer-reviewed, writer-recommended Kyrenia attractions using our Kyrenia family vacation planner.

Where to stay in Kyrenia

Northern Cyprus' most popular tourist destination offers an assortment of accommodations. It's a good idea to remain close to the beach, as this is where most of the Kyrenia's bars, restaurants, and shops are located. Transportation is somewhat lacking and unreliable; however, a bus connects the city center with beaches in the west. For a luxury stay, choose from numerous four- and five-star hotels, several of which boast seaside locations. If you're planning a longer stay, consider renting an apartment or villa.

  • Tourist-tastic but still great. Lots of boat trips from here and good place to soak in the ambience over a drink or a meal.  more »

  • We ate in a 1st floor restaurant overlooking the harbour. A really lovely area with lots of eateries and bars to choose from. Unfortunately though there's quite a bit of building work going on.  more »

  • Very nice. . Took cruise 6 hrs including lunch and 3 stops for swimming crystal clear water.
  • Very picturesque but watch locals when buying food and drink they inflate the price. But enjoy the ambiance.
  • Lovely environment. Restaurants, bars. More than thousands years old ancient harbour and castle.
  • Beautiful setting, relaxed atmosphere. .great place to sit with a glass of wine and watch the world go by
  • Wonderful view, kind people. Had fresh fish in the harbor, it was amazing. Almost all places provide wifi and the prices are fair for the food and drinks.
