Kyrenia Harbour, Kyrenia

4.3
#1 of 26 in Nature in Cyprus
With a recognizably carefree Mediterranean feel, Kyrenia Harbour makes you feel at home among its stone buildings and charming boats tied at the docks. Overlooking the 16th-century Venetian castle on one side and showcasing the dramatic Besparmak Mountains on the other, the harbor provides a surprising break from the hot and dusty capital city and its surroundings. Check out an array of specialty shops, cafes, and bistros, and look for clothes and spices at colorful Middle Eastern-styled markets. Stroll the cobbled streets and take in the views, or stop for a cup of hot Turkish coffee. • This is an interesting old harbour, but the clutter of boats rather spoils the effect. It is edged by some fine old buildings.  more »
  • Kyrenia candidates vie for cities should slow. A particular port area cafes, old but style is the port of history building drew half a month of challenges from inside the Castle from the middle of the Mediterranean Sea to the Mediterranean Sea with full savor. No stress, no hurry. Life here is slow but enjoyable

  • This small little harbour is perfect for a romantic stroll, although you're stopped here and there because of military zones. Don't forget to visit the small folklore museum.  more »

  • it's a very good park right middle in the city center. you can bring your young kids there and good place for morning walk and some basic exercise material is provided by the local Government which is very good thing. if you really just wanna have slightly weight lose exercise then it's a place for you.
  • A good place for outing with friends in your free time and leisure. The harbor is famous for the old "ship wrecked castle" which is a historic castle. In addition one can easily find best restaurants of different food and drinks.
  • A fantastic place to take a walk along the sea. It’s lively with lots of restaurants and boat activities. You can sit on the rocks and let the salty water splash on you.
  • One of the most beautiful places in the Mediterranean and pretty good value for money too, lovely people and quite unspoilt too. Enjoy before the sharks get in.
  • Very picturesque side of Kerynia. The buildings around the harbour do need some touch up. Chilled around for a bit and enjoyed a beer. It didn't look very clean at places.

Where to stay in Kyrenia

Northern Cyprus' most popular tourist destination offers an assortment of accommodations. It's a good idea to remain close to the beach, as this is where most of the Kyrenia's bars, restaurants, and shops are located. Transportation is somewhat lacking and unreliable; however, a bus connects the city center with beaches in the west. For a luxury stay, choose from numerous four- and five-star hotels, several of which boast seaside locations. If you're planning a longer stay, consider renting an apartment or villa.
