  • Great place to spend a couple of hours and enjoy the beauty of nature while making your way through the canyon floor. We visited it in January and felt lucky to be there almost alone. Our 6 and 9 y.o....  more »
  • Those seeking a more adventurous directions from Polis out take the E709 and then take Dhrousha and INIA... Use evt Google msps or MapsNe. From INIA single and somewhat choppy but is by car easily passable and scenic super. The last piece on the Lara road is a gravel road, but look good to go. The Gorge is very nice and good to walk across. During the winter months if more water in the Gorge is transporting waterproof Beach/bathing shoes recommended. 100% recommendable excursion.

  • When I saw the pictures of this place decided to go there. Preparing for a very long time to visit, read a lot of reviews. Car in Cyprus did not take so we decided to ride on buses. There are all just-first to the end at 615, then transferring to 616 and ask the driver to stop at-avakas. Then walked around Navigator -4 3.5 km. In December, the weather was good +22, rain was not. Therefore, the Creek was nearly dried up and we passed unhindered to the most beautiful places. It really is the most beautiful and unusual place in Cyprus! I was with a child 12 years-went without problems. Mountain goats are not met. Stones were falling. Definitely recommend!

  • Loved every minute at Avakas Gorge. I was my in walking gear but had knee length shorts and t-shirt on. In mid august I should have known better and put insert repellent on, but I didn't and received bits. Even so it doesn't stop me doing all again to enjoy it's magnificent views.
  • Interesting gorge! You can safely spend in it half a day. Difficulty level is not very big, but it's better to use normal trekking shoes and stock up bottles of water. When moving deeper into the gorge, everyone chooses when to stop and go back. If you have free time and a personal car, you can come here in the morning, go through the gorge, or at least part of it, then go to the local tavern near the parking lot on the dais, and by the evening will go down to the coast and meet the sunset on the beach.
  • This gorge is pretty impressive! We went there late in the afternoon which is the best time in my opinion, as the sun sits a bit lower, so it is less warm and the light is generally prettier for photos. There is no facilities for water in case you get thirsty, so I would advise to take your own water with you, as there is a 30 minute walk to the interesting bits. It is possible to drive quite close by car, but not every car would cope with the terrain, so keep that in mind. That gorge is really long, but after a while it gets quite dark and harder to walk, so it is up to you to decide how far you will take it. All in all it is a very interesting location and quite impressive to see!
  • Possibly the most beautiful part of Cyprus. I would highly recommend this. Take water, it was very dusty also you can drive Down the dust road all the way to the car park no problem (just keep going, with a W/C) we timed the walk so that it ended slightly before sunset and got to watch a beautiful setting sun over the deserted beach. What a lovely end to a day. The walks about 2hrs.
  • Excellent views. Typical Mediterranean gorge although unique in Cyprus.
