Fort Nassau, Willemstad

(3.9/5 based on 180+ reviews on the web)
On the top of a hill 68 m (223 ft) high overlooking Schottegat bay sits Fort Nassau. The military committee built the original fort in 1787 to protect the town of Willemstad. The fort features premium panoramic views of the city and also features a tropical garden where you can relax among the plant life. Inside, the fort operates a well renowned restaurant called 'Fort Nassau'. They serve a variety of international dishes with a Caribbean touch, such as a creamy mustard soup, caramelised salmon and a vast array of meat and seafood dishes. • The road to Fort Nassau gives a onbehagelijk feeling. The restaurant is beautifully situated on top of an old fort and gives a view of the bridge and on the other hand the Isla refinery (pretty face all those lights). Food is mediocre, limited choice and best pricey. Service is very friendly.

  • Nice location on the top of the mountain overlooking the harbor. You can go to the For Nassau restaurant and see the site too.  more »
  • We had a lovely dinner and the views were spectacular! I had the seafood trio and the boys had the chicken on the pri-fixe menu and said it was fabulous.!  more »

  • Unbeatable views, service is a little slow but it's the island life. Updated menu now excellent, snails and fish medley were fresh and memorable.
  • The pork was very dry, the remaining food was mediocre and the service was substandard bordering on poor. For the prices here I expect MUCH more. The view is great but you can't just live on your view. I won't return.
  • Absolutely great place to be! Amazing view over Willemstad! It's worth to make a walk to this place.
  • Very good food at a great location. The service is also splendid.
  • Good food. Great view and lovely experience.
