Curacao Sea Aquarium, Willemstad

3.3
#4 of 13 in Parks in Willemstad
Head to Curacao Sea Aquarium for a fun and informative day out with the family. Interact with sea lions, and observe dolphins undertaking incredible acrobatics. Take the little ones to the touch pool, where they can feel star fish and rays, or dive and snorkel to hand-feed sharks, turtles, and manta rays. The habitats here mimic the animals' natural environments as closely as possible, with ocean water circulating the enclosures, and sealed off bay areas for the larger mammals. You can see most of the relatively small aquarium in a few hours.. Add Curacao Sea Aquarium to your Willemstad travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Willemstad trip planner .

  • You will get to know the animals in an active way. Good explanation. Nice located. Beautiful animals. Especially the flamingos

  • A lot was closed. They were renovating but just ok. Some of of the “experiences “ seemed a bit pricy.  more »
  • Aquarium well thing with very few attractions and small aquariums. It's heartbreaking. Expensive (almost 40 guilders per person). I was willing to make the encounter with dolphins in Dolphin Academy inside the Aquarium, but very expensive for a few measly minutes. It's not worth it. I suggest not to go unless you like waaaay. The Dolphin presentation with some trainers also is weak, but the animals are fabulous.

  • I went at 3:30 and got charged half price for two shows. Not sure if some exhibits were closed of if they get closed after a certain time. Shark tank was empty. Enjoyed touch tank and two shows - sea lions and dolphin. The amount of time I stayed and amount I saw was more than perfect for a 3 y.o. The shows are out in open and can get really hot so prepare for heat and sun.
  • This was the highlight of our recent vacation for my brother's wedding. I'd swam with dolphins before who seemed like sideshows, not animals. However this experience was completely different. The wonderful trainers definently had the well being of the dolphins in mind first while still providing an excellent experience. You will be deep water with 2 dolphins in a group of 6 (if you buy the swim package) and get a good amount of time swimming, getting tricks and having a great time. The sea lion show is a must see as well. Same awesome rapport with the animals while being super entertaining. I highly recommend.
  • An experience my family and I will remember for the rest of our lives! We took two adults and two boys, aged 11 and 10 on the swim with the dolphins experience - it was wonderful. The staff are helpful and friendly and go out of their way to get the most out of the experience for you. We spent thirty minutes in the water, which may not sound like much but was actually plenty - it was just the four of us with two dolphins. Loved the fact that the dolphins are rescued and able to leave if they want. Our dolphin interaction included lots of swimming alongside the dolphins, basically skin to skin, plus the opportunity to do games and tricks with them. A professional photographer takes amazing photos of the whole experience, and while they are expensive ($80 for a USB stick of all the photos) they are worth every penny. The rest of the aquarium is interesting with a number of marine exhibits, but the dolphin experience is the highlight and your reason to go. Facilities are good with free lockable lockers, showers, change rooms etc. Highly recommend to cross this one off the bucket list.
  • We found this Sea Aquarium to be very professional and they are taking good care of the mammals living there. The dolphins are free to leave the aquarium if they want to however they see it as there territorial so they are eager to stay. In the last years the swimming with the dolphins has been adjusted and you are now not allowed to tough the head or hang on to the back fins (which we considered to be much friendlier for the dolphins). We had a good time here and learned a lot. Also walking around there to see the aquariums, flamingo's and sea-lions was a big plus.
  • We really enjoyed our experience 4 years ago. Yes things are a little older compared to some similar experiences in the USA, but we really enjoyed the ability to get up close and personal with the exhibits. My family took part in the feeding of the sharks and turtles, and I have great video of the extremely loud sucking sound the sharks made as they eat the fist through small holes in a plexiglass underwater wall. We are coming back in March on a cruise, and wanted to know the price for the sea lion adventure up close and personal, but the price isn't on the website, and there isn't an email address for the Park.
