Mural de la Prehistoria, Vinales

#8 of 14 in Things to do in Vinales
Observe the massive Mural de la Prehistoria, painted under the direction of artist Leovigildo Gonzalez between 1959 and 1962. Impressive in size, the painting is 200 m by 300 m (660 ft by 990 ft). To create this work, painters hung from the top of the rock and listened as Leovigildo belted out instructions over a microphone. The result is a vividly colored depiction of prehistoric life, which may not astound you in the artistic sense, but will stun you with its sheer size and the effort put in to create something on such a grand scale. • Without the daiquiri or pina colada can not admire, fortunately, bar at the foot of the muralesu offers great cold pina coladę and then by far the easier to admire the wielomiesięczną work of several ambitious artists. Charming place, murales-well, poor quality, but the taste is difficult to discuss.

  • The mural is very cute (nor is the big thing, it is a giant painting, nothing more, nothing prehistoric) but perfectly visible from the road. The issue is that when we arrived at the entrance, it had to pay 5CUC to get closer. It is not much silver but nothing is worth it. It is only a kind of "toll", they do not offer anything. Over when we told her that we didn't want to enter the Lord keeps Cuban, we literally threw the place of very bad form. It is much more advisable to walk through the Valley. A pity. The worst of this beautiful valley.

  • You pay 3 pesos to see a mural recently. The value for money is not worth the visit. The caves are much more interesting.

  • it isn't an eye opening or amazing experience but if you are in beautiful Vinales then you should visit this attraction. The Mural can be seen from quite far. You can skip going any further to see it up close unless you really want to. It's surrounded by peaceful farms and lush green fields. Quite an enjoyable view for that matter.
  • Graffitti to the power of 10. XXXXL size.
  • The painting on the rocks is huge and somewhat bizarre. Locals say it came to be after a bet between the artist and his girlfriend. The surrounding area is beautiful.
  • Awesome place to be. We had great food and drinks, good music and nice and friendly service.
  • You can enjoy art on mountains in this quiet place.

You can find accommodations on almost every street in Vinales. The most popular area to stay within the town is along Calle Adela Azcuy Norte, which leads to the entrance of the nearby national park.
