Visit Cactus Patriarch, a giant treelike cactus that stands over 6 m (20 ft) tall and is over half a millennium old. It is believed to be the oldest living thing in all of Cuba, and therefore the only living witness to the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Surrounded by dense green vegetation, the cactus sits near a natural salt pit where leathers and meats were prepared. Hire a local guide to learn about the history of the cactus and surrounding area. • The only attraction that has really be a stale cactus and perhaps is a little exaggeration to say that it has more than 500 years. I was staying at the hotel Memories Varadero and there are also two large, old and towering cactus. It is not an attraction that worth visiting, if pass by chance and see it, then it's okay. But not paying anything by going to see it.

  • This rare cactus tree is 200+ years old and is located next to the Oceans Varadero el Patriarca hotel. If you are in the area, it's a nice thing to see.
  • The Cactus Patriarch was beautiful, it's amazing how old it is! I can’t wait to go back and visit Cuba!!
