Valle de los Ingenios, Trinidad
(4/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web)
See where the town of Trinidad made its money during a visit to Valle de los Ingenios, a network of three interconnected valleys located 8 km (5 mi) to the east of town. During the 19th century, the valleys were home to over 50 sugar cane mills, and the ruins of the estates that built up around them can still be seen today. Some of the most impressive, preserved sites include bell towers and warehouses, slave quarters and manor houses. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988, the valley's natural landscape and slowly decaying colonial sites combine well to form atmospheric and evocative scenes. Put Valle de los Ingenios and other Trinidad attractions into our Trinidad vacation generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Most choose a place, which is as far as possible from the locomotive. She smell quite powerfully. And you do without guitarist and his Guantanamera also... This one is compensated through a leisurely ride through the beautiful countryside.

  • Train ride to the "valle de los ingenios" between sugar cane plantations. Show up at the ticket office of the tourist train station before 9.00, pay attention to the queue for the ticket (10cuc). Only start at 09.30. Return to 15.30. Bring water, hat, fruit. First stop at "Manaca Iznaga" old sugar cane plantation that employed up to 300 slaves. The place is great x buy lace, crafts and for drinking guarapò (cane juice). Wanting to 1cuc you can take coconut to drink its juice and after, eat the flesh. Also available as bananas. Good supply of fruit for eating at the next stop, the red snapper, if you do not want to take advantage of the restaurant. Original train years 20-30 very beautiful landscape. Sugar cane and mango from all sides ... I was hoping to see the sugar cane processing x make sugar but unfortunately nothing. Actually the Red Snapper is just refreshment.
