History Museum
Intricate details carved in dark wood make Casa de Diego Velazquez a desirable destination for visitors interested in learning more about Cuba's rich cultural and artistic heritage. Built between 1516 and 1530, the house remains the oldest building one the island, which once served as the residences of Spanish conqueror and first governor Diego Velazquez. Each room presents a window into the past, featuring French porcelain, Spanish ceramics, and other decorative objects with an obvious Moorish twist. To get the most out of your experience, visit the museum with an English-speaking guide. • The Museum is the allegedly oldest building in Cuba. In any case, it's worth a visit. The entrance was with us in the context of our trip already included, so I know an accurate value. Photography is not allowed, except you get paid 5 CUC. The building is beautifully prepared and you can experience a small time travel with many interesting furniture and objects. The tour took about 1 hour and the Museum is located next to Céspedes Park. If you're in the area, then you should look into it ;)

  • We must not miss, House-Museum of Diego Velázquez, first Governor of Cuba, is one of the oldest buildings in Cuba. The House despite having suffered a fire even there is a wardrobe that smells of smoke, has a coffered ceiling of great cedar, with furniture of the time, and some fantastic viewpoints. I would not lose my visit

  • This building is at the oldest of Santiago, there has a fire raged and there one can still see the traces of, it gives a good impression of how Diego Velázquez lived in the time around 1500. The furniture and also the place where the gold was melted before it was shipped to Spain.

  • Very interesting. It is worth. Fantastic and historically a House a jewel. We had a guide (of the House) who explained everything in a way consistent and professionally. Really interesting. Worth a look in.
