Puente de Bacunayagua, Matanzas

Categories: Bridges, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web
Puente de Bacunayagua stands as Cuba's longest and highest bridge and marks the border between the Havana and Matanzas provinces. The design is an ingenious example of Cuban civil engineering due to the unconventional terrain on which it was built. The bridge stretches 314 m (1,030 ft) over a lush green mountain valley and stands 103 m (338 m) tall. Take in views of the Valle del Yumuri and the sea, and marvel at birds flying even lower then the bridge itself, and wild palms appearing as tiny shrubbery. Have some food at the bridge restaurant, a favorite stopping point for tour buses and taxis.
