  • Small church located in the hills before entering the city of Matanzas; enjoy d; wonderful views of the Valley and a bit of fresh air! The small church was built in 1875 by the Catalan community in honor of a Virgin of Montserrat which reminded them of the country. For a time it fell into disrepair, but is now restored and you can visit the Church and also get into the tower. We paid admission - not normal for a church, but if it helps to work why not - a modest sum of 3 CUC per person. The tower is accessible by stairs wooden - and finally spiral staircase - he should be afraid of a little boorish stairs here. But the climb is rewarded by the beautiful view; also on the first floor with overhanging views of the room above. The Church is very neutral, no chapels and just a small altar with the Virgin sitting on wings of an OWL. There is also a Black Madonna as is often the case in the Caribbean. Worth the trip!

  • It is a journey that is both short and long, depending on the tour who hire or if you are self-employed, the best is the parish walk with option for a cuc depending on s is open for climbing to the Bell Tower, but to make a panoramic view of the parish , also you can see the panoramic view that is beautiful, with views of the city of matanzas or make a good family photo or selfie with the background of the city or the nature, an incredible pure air is breathed

  • Beautiful view of the city. Beware of the locals here trying to make you pay for parking and taking pictures. Just laugh at them and say police, they will leave you alone.
  • The most beautiful place in the entire Matanzas city with beautiful views on both the city itself and the Yumuri river valley on the other side. The monastery is closed. Few mosquitos and a very chatty nightwatch might disturb the tranquility of this place.
  • Excellent vantage point, point required to master the great Athens of america: killings, the temple is very welcoming, strategically built from where you can see the great the Yumuri Valley, and its phenomenal electric train. excellent site that I have visited in 2012 and 2015.
