Plaza de San Francisco, Havana
(4.6/5 based on 1,200+ reviews on the web)
Dominated by the eponymous 16th-century basilica, Plaza de San Francisco is a popular meeting point near Havana's harbor. Restored in the 1990s, the square is known for its architecture, cobblestone pavement, and a 19th-century white-marble fountain with lion statues, carved by sculptor Giuseppe Gaggini. Sit back and relax at one of the cafes with a refreshing drink, admire the preserved colonial buildings, and watch the cruise ships approaching the Sierra Maestra terminal. With our custom trip planner, Havana attractions like Plaza de San Francisco can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • Restored recently, is beautiful by day and by night. There are several statues, one of Chopin, one representing a loving conversation and one of Caballero de Paris and good luck if you touch it. There stands the palazzo della CADECA where you can change up at eight o'clock in the evening. Convenient if you arrive in Cuba in the afternoon and you have to change their money.
