Plaza de Armas, Havana

Categories: Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 1,800+ reviews on the web
Enjoy the historic and peaceful Plaza de Armas, and walk upon its unusual wooden-brick pavings, originally put in place to prevent the sounds of horses' hooves as they walked through the square. A great place to pick up souvenirs and knick knacks (there is a daily second-hand book market every day except Sundays), the square also serves as a picturesque setting to simply take in the sights. Take a seat and watch life go by in the square, lined with palm trees and showcasing amazing architecture. You can als pop into plenty of restaurants and bars in the surrounding area for refreshments. Add Plaza de Armas and other attractions to your Havana trip itinerary using our Havana trip builder.

  • This square was the heart of the colonial centuries city since it is located the Palace of the captains General (now houses the Museum of the city), preserved at the ends of the Renaissance fortresses of the city and the so-called "Temple", site of the founding of the city. With a central park around which daily installs a flea market of books secondhand, banknotes, coins, stamps and Cuban prints always, it is an always lively plaza. In its surroundings several terraces where enjoy a mojito either enjoy a great meal at a great price always in the company of a group of live music.

  • A leafy square with a old book market. You can find old revolution book, music disc, old coins and money, poster. It is a good place for antique lovers!
  • great historic plaza. must see
  • Fun Cuban paraphernalia and literature for relatively cheap. Except Canada pins - $3 CUCs! I suggest bringing your own ;)
  • I like the park right outside my hotel (which was a convent)
