Parque John Lennon, Havana

(3.3/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Beatles fans won't want to miss Parque John Lennon, where a monument of the iconic musician sits on a bench. John Lennon enjoyed a legacy of adoration from the Cuban public, despite the country's ban on the Beatles during the 1960s and 70s. In 2000, Fidel Castro himself unveiled the monument, sculpted by Cuban artist José Villa Soberón and marking the 20th anniversary of Lennon's assassination in New York City. The inscription underneath cites lines from Lennon's beloved ode to peace, "Imagine," in both English and Spanish. • Funny how Beatle's music was banned in the early days and now John Lennon has his own park and sculpture. The guard puts the glasses on him as the originals were stolen. Be sure to tip the person who ...  more »
  • No idea this park was here but once I found out I had to stop. They have a "park ranger" there and when he sees you go to take a picture, he walks over, puts on John's signature glasses and then start...  more »
  • I loved being able to sit with John for a photo. The life sized statue is very well done and what a great way to honor this very talented musician who gave us so much wonderful music.  more »

  • Around the corner is The Yellow Submarine cool night club with live classic rock music playing everynite. The park bench is perfect for pictures and singing old Beatle songs
  • Really nice park in Havana. Interesting statue of John Lennon.
  • Nice photo opportunity. Short walk from Colon Cemetery.
  • John Lennon's statue is smaller than you'd think but this place is fun. More than anything, this is just a funny testament to the randomness of what Castro deems worthy.
  • There's not much to see...
