Parque John Lennon, Havana

Categories: Monuments, Nature & Parks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
2.6/5 based on 190 reviews on the web
Beatles fans won't want to miss Parque John Lennon, where a monument of the iconic musician sits on a bench. John Lennon enjoyed a legacy of adoration from the Cuban public, despite the country's ban on the Beatles during the 1960s and 70s. In 2000, Fidel Castro himself unveiled the monument, sculpted by Cuban artist José Villa Soberón and marking the 20th anniversary of Lennon's assassination in New York City. The inscription underneath cites lines from Lennon's beloved ode to peace, "Imagine," in both English and Spanish.
