  • Iglesia del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus is a beautiful church on Reina. At Christmas they have a large creche. 1/2 a block away on the other side of the street is the head loggia of the masons in Cuba wi...  more »
  • Notoriously excels at Avenida Simon Bolivar (Queen), on which sits, by its majestic Gothic style, contrasting with the simplicity that is in central Havana.-the parish of the sacred of the heart of Jesus and San Ignacio de Loyola, known locally as Queen Church, is a majestic Catholic Church, in neo-Gothic style, situated in the District of Central Havana, in Cuba's capital. It is the highest Church of Cuba and one of the most beautiful, 50 metres high tower can be seen from various points of the city. A true Gothic style, has the key elements of this current: pointed arch, high ogival vaults, small walls, large windows and bright stained glass. Front Queen Street, you can see the big picture of the sacred heart, carved in wood, whose base is the Central capital that represents the parable of the prodigal son and the two Saints that make you guardia:san Ignacio de Loyola and San Francisco Javier. The two side aisles form a Latin cross, one is dedicated to San Jose, where an image of the Virgen de la Caridad de el Cobre, patron saint of the country, together with the Cuban flag. The altar of another ship is dedicated to the Inmaculada Concepción and is where the Tabernacle that holds the consecrated hosts. I have attached a photo, did you useful?

  • A great looking church no matter where you look. Located right near the start of the busy Carlos III street.
  • Beautiful, calm, freely open to all. This church is place for respite, reflexion & prayer.
  • Very beautiful church in perfect baroque style
  • Beautiful church while in beauty and splendour with the most beautiful in Europe. Not seen very well its facade photos since it is in a somewhat narrow street for its magnitude.

Where to stay in Havana

Old Havana remains the most popular neighborhood to stay in Cuba's capital. Here you'll find all manner of accommodations, from budget guesthouses and bed and breakfasts to luxury hotels. Some of the back streets in the old town can be quite rough, so visitors with children might want to steer clear of the area. Providing a quieter, more residential alternative, the western suburb of El Vedado exudes a relaxed atmosphere and serves as the perfect spot for a family vacation. If you're after better beach access, look farther west to the upper-class district of Miramar.
