El Templete, Havana

(3.5/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web)
Witness 19th-century Neoclassical architecture at El Templete. The temple, which is deeply immersed in stories of the local culture and history, was built in 1828 on the site of the city's first mass and the first council. It sits behind a column that replaces a silk cotton tree where the first mass took place. Inside the structure you'll find three large paintings that depict the first mass, the first town council, and the blessing of the site. • A very significant historical old gate in the East side of the Plaza de Armas. 1519, is a historical building was erected in 1828 to celebrate the town was founded under the name of San Cristobal de la Habana. Under the kapok grounds seems to be mass for 1 second and the Council made. Was the only outside the entrance, but inside the busts of Columbus with a picture of the famous 3 is stored it is.

  • According to legend, the place where the temple is now located was founded in Havana and held the first meeting of the local government. Still relies on the same spot to grow a tree, Ceiba, but we in our check-in was not so lucky: the temple was under construction, and tree or died, or was cut down.

  • Is the ground zero of Havana. A neoclassical chapel that marks the exact spot where the city was born and where the first mass. There is a sacred ceiba on the outside.

  • Good food and views.
  • The paella for 2 or more is a must. Pricy for Cuba but worth it
  • Live Cuban traditional music. Excellent cocktails and cuisine that can always be improved. If you are not a connoisseur is perfect for tourists. Fun

  • For Havana and Cuba in general-very good. The only thing that pimps and traders with the black market anyway with the street tout you, offering "every".
