Explore the 16th-century fortified castle at El Morro. Built to protect Havana's harbor from ongoing raids, the site now affords visitors wonderful views of the city, especially at sundown. If you’re interested in history, you'll enjoy your walk around the fortress. However, you'll be exposed to the elements during much of your stroll, so check the weather before you visit. Pop into the onsite maritime museum for accounts of epic sieges, then consider climbing up the lighthouse for a small extra charge. For El Morro and beyond, use our Havana holiday planner to get the most from your Havana vacation.
