Castillo de San Carlos de la Cabana, Havana

4.3
Explore the historic Castillo de San Carlos de la Cabana, built in the 18th century to defend Havana from British colonial conquests. Now a public park, this fortress complex contains several museums, though most visitors come to climb the ramparts and take in the views of old Havana. Try not to miss the nightly cannon firing ceremony, which signals the closing of the city gates, a tradition cherished since colonial times. CDA night at 9 o'clock, fires the cannon shot reminiscent of the colonial era, when the city gates were closed at that hour. Beautiful ceremony recreated in all its details. Visit to La Cabana to watch this spectacle, I advise to go about 8 o'clock to achieve a good location and well see all ceremony. On the other hand, it is a beautiful place where the best pictures with panoramic views of Havana in the evening can be removed. Negative Aspectro: at the entrance, there is a kiosk that sold guarapo and is a scam because they charge 3 cuc for something that barely worth 0.50 cents of cuc. It is otherwise in site recommended

A superb fortress which is very well renovated, you get a panoramic view of the city. Every night at 21:00, it's here that is fired the cannon shot. Come 1:00 before in order to get the best seats.

Great views but not much to see apart from the small chapel. Tres morros fort is much better. But here you can attend the 9pm ceremony. 6 cuc entrance fee for foreginers.

A great and magnificent place to visit. From here you can get the best pictures over Havana when you take a walk up on the wall. We didn't find any place where you could actually go inside the buildings aside from the small Chapel and some stores. The best thing is to come here in the evening to watch the Canon salute they have every evening at 09:00 Pm. Be there a good time before if you want good seats.
