Almacenes San Jose, Havana
(4.1/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
In Old Havana's oldest depository, a lively hub of colorful handicrafts, artisan products, and music dwells in Almacenes San Jose. Dating back to 1885, the renovated warehouse now stocks everything from leather craft and ceramics, to toys and tobacco accessories. Take your time to explore the multicolored maze, a cultural hub that also supports local artists using the space for musical performances and art activities. Haggle with the shopkeepers, who don't mind having a friendly debate about the price. Spend time hunting for a bargain and ensure what you’re purchasing is an authentic Cuban piece. Our Havana vacation builder makes visiting Almacenes San Jose and other Havana attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Is a former barn that brings to many craftsmen. You can find Leathercrafts, pearls, corals etc. Ideal to take some souvenirs. There are paintings and wooden sculptures of Cuban artists which demonstrate the culture of this people. You should go with time since there is a lot to look at. Deserves a visit. If paintings are bought you must have compulsory seal to avoid problems in customs, since leaving always control that you have met this requirement. The prices are very affordable and you can always negotiate.

  • The tourist shop of Havana. Some decent stuff, but most of the booths are the same stuff with high pressure sales tactics. If you're looking for a place to buy touristy souvenirs, this is it.
  • Cuban market place
  • There are a variety of souvenirs and memorabilia items. However the prices are more expensive that normally sits in the street. The same items can be purchased on the street or in other markets at best price. I prefer the ramp artisans market.
