Take a peaceful stroll through Jardin Botanico Soledad de Cienfuegos, the largest tropical exotic garden in Cienfuegos. Founded by Edwin Atkins and his wife in 1901, the garden covers an area of over 97 ha (239 ac). Having started off as a sugar mill, the area was eventually turned into a garden due to the owner’s passion, and has since expanded into a collection displaying over 2,000 plant species. Find orchids, palms, fiscuses, and bamboos as you wander the garden's paths. Plants and flowers have arrived here from all over the world, including as far as India and China.   • Pity that we were there on a drizzly day. Still worth the visit. There are countless species of palms and exotic plants very nice. If you speak Spanish, you can rent a guide to parking in the garden.
