Plaza San Juan de Dios, Camaguey

Categories: Historic Sites, Landmarks, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.4/5 based on 100+ reviews on the web
A picturesque square in the heart of old colonial Cemaguey, Plaza San Juan de Dios preserves much of its 18th century atmosphere with its abundance of cafes, craft shops, and art shops, all with red tiled roofs. The square's design dates back to 1732. It houses the city church, which was built during the 17th century. Sit back and watch as people stroll by, stop by at one of the local eateries and grab a bite, or head to a souvenir shop and buy 100% locally made souvenirs. Plaza San Juan de Dios is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our international travel planner, Camaguey Edition.

  • Colonial flair to perhaps the most beautiful square of the city. Around the plaza are impeccably groomed colonial houses with one floor. Furthermore, to this square a nice art gallery, the 1800 restaurant and the former Hospital de San Juan de Dios (today a museum of colonial art).
