Camaguey Centro, Camaguey

4.2
#2 of 8 in Historic Sites in Camaguey
Originally founded on the north coast of Cuba in 1515 and then moving inland in 1528 due to continuous pirate attacks, Camaguey Centro now exists as the country's second largest historic center. Resembling a maze, the city has 15 churches and offers winding alleys and forked streets that lead to squares. According to legend the city was designed this way as a defensive measure. Locals dispute this claim and say that the design is the result of a lack of planning. Tour the city and appreciate the colonial architecture, head to a plethora of restaurants and try some local cuisine, or people watch as you rest in one the city's squares. Today I'm going to talk about a special place in the province of Camaguey in Cuba, is located in the old town of Jaronu, renowned as Brazil by the Cuban revolution, it is a beautiful village, with houses of masonry and roofing tiles imported from the United States, the town is strategically connected by causeways to the keys of Camagüey which is the destination for national and international tourism. The village is considered as national heritage, in addition to two world-class hotels, the principal is known as La Casona, which was the home of the former administrator of the old Central sugar mill which is still in full service and is guarded by the batey, or people that I talk to them. This hotel or house them will be easy to recognize it in the photos that I'm going to give, in fact this hotel is the headquarters of international fisheries of the needle, so if you are a lover or professional fisherman of fishing, we invite you to stay at the hotel and go fishing. In addition to this, you can try a rich and delicious Cuban food in the ranch located in the courtyard of one of these houses on the main street that will also be easy to recognize, so without more, if they expect to visit Cuba and reach the beaches of Camagüey wouldn't leave visit Jaronu.
