Zrinjevac, Zagreb

4.7
#2 of 10 in Parks in Zagreb
A verdant spot near the heart of Zagreb, Zrinjevac forms a key part in the city's network of parks popularly known as the "Green Horseshoe." Named after Nikola Zrinski, a local nobleman who won a series of battles against the Ottomans in 1556, the park features several landscaped gardens that provide a tranquil respite from the noise and commotion of the city. Shaded walkways lined by plane trees draw walkers and joggers, while impeccable lawns dotted with bubbling fountains serve picnickers seeking a quiet place near the city center. A standout among monumental buildings surrounding the park, the city's archaeological museum holds a major collection of prehistoric artifacts. • A nice relaxing walk in a forest on your way to the upper town when using the side way to go up. What a nice way to spend the day walking in a forest and enjoying the plantation around.  more »

  • A well maintained park in the city centre, where you can spend lunch breaks or small breaks. You can find many points where you can sit and kiosks. Quiet place, not very big (a few blocks), close to the main attractions of the city, served by public transportation.

  • Beautiful nature. Perfect for relaxation :)
  • Lovely park situated in the very heart of Zagreb offers great escape from the city buzz. It is beautifull in every season. Home of famous Zagreb advent and many other festivals, such as Sweets Festival, Jazz Jestival, C'est the Best, etc. All the trees on Zrinjevac are sycamors, some of them older than 120 years. In spring and summer tourists stretch blankets and sit around the fountain which, and students come there to gather and have fun. Fall is especially beautifull and colorefull. There are concerts held in the pavilion every weekend during spring and summer. In Advent time in winter it all smells of mulled wine, fritters and sausages. Zrinjevac is a must see for every tourist who visits Zagreb! You can even find a "kissing bank", where you can sit, kiss, and take a selfie.

Where to stay in Zagreb

Lodging in Croatia's capital Zagreb maintains a high standard, with many centrally located hotels offering significant weekend discounts on their finest rooms. Hostels remain the most affordable option for budget-minded travelers visiting for a day or two, providing small but neat rooms only steps away from the city's most popular bars, clubs, and restaurants. For something a bit quieter, look for self-catering apartments and guesthouses in the city's residential neighborhoods, where you can park for free and get a good night's sleep.
