St. Mark's Church, Zagreb
(4.4/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Take in historic architecture and art at St. Mark's Church. Notice the roof tiles, which depict a white castle on a red background--the coats of arms of the city of Zagreb. Watch for the Romanesque window and Gothic doorway that remain from the original structure. At the southern portal, admire the Gothic sculptures, which represent the twelve apostles, Joseph and Mary with baby Jesus, and St. Mark with the lion. On the northwest wall of the church, you can see the oldest coat of arms of Zagreb from 1499. In the church interior, keep an eye out for two statues by Ivan Mestrovic, considered by many to be the most famous Croatian sculptor of the 20th century. St. Mark's Church is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our custom trip planner, Zagreb Edition.

  • The particularity of this church, which immediately jumps the eye is undoubtedly the roof ... that being said, having observed and photographed roof and Church ... look a little around the edges of the square you will discover the carved faces on the corners of buildings (have a perché......la little guide that will leave the information Office will solve the mystery). in the immediate vicinity, there are for example a chapel within an open arch (if you come on walk past us in the middle), not far from here is also a nice terrace on the city (if you come up with the funicular, we pass close) ... enjoy your visit

  • Beautiful and well preserved church with a magnificent coat of arms filled roof. It's a must see spot for any tourist and should not be skipped.
  • This is where everything is happening.. The people, music, food, drinks, bazaars and the life of Zagreb.. Must see for every visitor
  • Very cool. Nice square and interesting detail on the church unique to Croatia.
  • This 13th-century church is one of Zagreb’s most emblematic buildings. Its colourful tiled roof, constructed in 1880, has the medieval coat of arms.
  • Nice square and a church with interesting roof - check it out, it's one of the landmarks of Zagreb.
