Specialty Museum Museum
At Museum of Broken Relationships, reflect on the fragility of human relationships, and consider the political, social, and cultural circumstances surrounding the love stories presented. After the end of their four-year relationship, Olinka Vistica and Drazen Grubisic started the collection with their leftover personal items. See how other people embraced the idea of exhibiting their past love as a sort of mourning. The facility received the Kenneth Hudson Award for Europe's most innovative museum in 2011. Where to stay in Zagreb

Lodging in Croatia's capital Zagreb maintains a high standard, with many centrally located hotels offering significant weekend discounts on their finest rooms. Hostels remain the most affordable option for budget-minded travelers visiting for a day or two, providing small but neat rooms only steps away from the city's most popular bars, clubs, and restaurants. For something a bit quieter, look for self-catering apartments and guesthouses in the city's residential neighborhoods, where you can park for free and get a good night's sleep.

  • A lot of fun! And very interesting...! Need to plan a good 2 hours to actually go through the entire museum, not that it's big but there's a lot to read! Can be done in less if you skip a few stories ...  more »
  • Intrigued by all the enthusiasm I read for this place it was high on our list. However, we were somewhat bored with it. It's an interesting idea but for us it didn't seem to be hefty enough to warrant...  more »

  • This museum is a very special space in the world, dedicated to love and letting go. It is some parts wistful, most parts hopeful - I found myself cheering on the protagonists of the lives left behind with these once loved exhibits. Come here to feel that you are not alone. A must visit when in Zagreb.
  • Quirky museum. Worth a visit. Various physical mementos from failed relationships with corresponding stories. As it sounds, it's very sad. And completely hilarious. Sometimes at the same time. It's not high tech. Young kids will be bored to tears. But if you like quirky or the weather is bad or you need to kill an hour before something else, definitely a good stop. Enjoyed it.
  • Different, but not sure all the hype is justified. Stories were not amazingly interesting and gets crowded. But not a bad way to spend 45 minutes and get out of the heat.
  • Interesting little museum. Not too big, but enough. Could have been soppy and heavy handed, but there was a nice balance between sentiment and humour to the exhibit.
  • The only museum where I read every single placard/label. The museum is fairly small, but fairly content rich. Allot about 1.5 - 2 hours for the visit and read through all of the items. The experience is very unique and emotional so go with some tissues if you're the type to cry. Take your significant other to test your relationship as well.
