Neighborhood
Replete with imperial architecture and a modern layout, Lower Town serves as a showcase for Zagreb's modern development. Created in the 1870s, the city recalls the shape of a horseshoe, though this was not ever fully completed. Wander the city to explore its network of gardens, parks, and wide boulevards, as well as stores, shops, galleries, and museums, including an ethnographic display and a collection of famous European paintings. You'll find that the area's Hapsburg rulers infused the buildings with a taste of Austrian style. Finish of your tour of the square of Marshal Tito, where you can admire the nearby ornate palace. • Busy part of town. Large outdoor market on some mornings. Many shops and restaurants. We felt safe to walk around.  more »
  • Very busy and full of shops and restaurants and bars and cafés. The Dolac market, tradition of generations and very characteristic with its red tents and fresh products (has it all: the fish market souvenir; a cup of coffee in a restaurant) and j. Jelacica square, always moves, are the high points of the Lower Town.

  • While many window shopping compared with the upper area of the old town, the stylish shops and street is fun to. Also, tram and ran a hurry is moving. Market offers a wide variety of cheese and decorative items, such as rich pieces are sold.
