Dolac Market, Zagreb
(4.3/5 based on 320 reviews on the web)
Situated right near the main cathedral, Dolac Market lets tourists experience a slice of local Croatian life. Fresh flowers, regional olive oil, dairy products, and fresh burek are just a few of the items sold here. While these markets are common in Croatian cities, Zagreb's is one of the largest and very popular with the locals. You, too, can do most of your food shopping here: the selection is good, the stall-keepers give lots of information about what they're offering, and in many cases, it's cheaper than the grocery store around the corner. • If God grants me another chance, I'd love to fly back to Zagreb to buy until I dropped at Dolac Market. It's just a few minutes walk from my hotel, Hotel Dubrovnik to Dolac Market. Early in the mornin...  more »
  • Another one of the big attractions of the city, from 1926, is the most famous outside of Zagreb. Where colours, flavours and smells are mixed, there sold fruits, flowers, vegetables, meats, fish, wines, cheeses, breads and sweet fresh as well as all kinds of souvenirs from early in the morning. It is very close to the main square, Ban Jelacic square, located in the middle between Gradec and Kaptol, the oldest neighbourhood of Zagreb. Preferred site

  • Best food market in Zagreb. It is very vivid, colourful, full of fresh veggies, fruit, cheese, fish, meat.... Definitely the place to visit and to stop to grab some fresh food or to have nice, home made fast food...
  • Quite a nice market to walk around. Selling all sorts, mainly fruit, veg, cheese on the terrace, meat and seafood in the hall. The top terrace sells flowers. There are more locals than tourists. Good atmosphere.
  • Very special place with a lot of fresh and exotic foods. Be careful and always make sure that the vendors weigh the amount of food you want. Otherwise they might try to rip you off.
  • Best market in the country and probably one of the best in the world. Fresh seasonal products from small producers all over the country.
  • The most famous and the largest bazzar (street market) in Croatia. Everything can be found there and it is also popular as a tourist site where the local life can be observed and tasted.
