Dolac Market, Zagreb

4.2
#2 of 30 in Shopping in Zagreb
Situated right near the main cathedral, Dolac Market lets tourists experience a slice of local Croatian life. Fresh flowers, regional olive oil, dairy products, and fresh burek are just a few of the items sold here. While these markets are common in Croatian cities, Zagreb's is one of the largest and very popular with the locals. You, too, can do most of your food shopping here: the selection is good, the stall-keepers give lots of information about what they're offering, and in many cases, it's cheaper than the grocery store around the corner. • Even in winter it's hustle and bustle. I bought figs just a another homecoming in the evening but I wanted to buy the Orange. The shop slightly different prices. The highest was 1 kg 30 Kuna. And a half bought at km 15 HRK. Zagreb outside city market also saw a fig is very cheap here. So had to buy some others couldn't favorite dried figs for a while after returning home. I bought a heart on the market in addition to vegetables and fruit and little crafts shops, Zagreb ornament, etc..

  • Find fresh fruits, cheeses, meats, all to sample the delights of Zagreb. All natural and producers in the area, great!

  • The market is spread above and below the big square, the cellar offers a space where you can take a walk away from the terrible winter chills Croat, in addition offers the opportunity to sample local ingredients and come into contact with farmers and peasants, who although extremely nice and kind don't speak a word of English.

  • From a homegrown produce customer view, everybody has their own favorite seller. This is an easy way to isolate industrial produce resellers. My favorite butcher is Ivis-Prom. It is always busy, but it's worth the wait. From a tourist point of view, I never really understood the value, but I guess it's the views and the busy rhythm of the city that visitors like so much. Also, there are not that many statues of farmer women taking their homegrown cheese and cream to the market in a big basket on her head in the world.
  • One of Zagreb main local market for getting your supply of fresh food directly from producers/framers and an alternative to supermarket, the one is nice located in the city center and offers different sections for fruits & Vegetables, Meat, Fish, cheese and dairy products. lots of stands and merchants, some are nice and some aren't so nice. The more early you go, the better the varieties and options and as everyone knows that they all go quite early, the best approach is to develop a relation with some vendors and they will hold what you need for you.
  • Most popular open (and in the basement closed) market in Zagreb. You can find all locally produced ftuits, vegetables, fish and meat, and any other foodstuffs. Organic produce can also be bought. Photo opportunity with "Kumica" monument, kinda Dublin's Molly Malone.
  • traditional market in town, everyday open at at 6 am - 15 pm. easily reach by public transport. to reach the market must go to the stairs, not friendly for disabled people.
  • Aaaa now this you HAVE to see. Fruit from all over the country..lovely ppl. So much fruit and veggies and cheese and honey..look for Zeljko GROBOTEK he has the best natrual Honey ever. Beautiful market. Love Zagreb
