  • Only by appointment and at certain times, but no small detail, you can book for Monday day when normally the 90% of the museums are closed. Situated between Tito and the Botanical Garden, the State archive in Zagreb is a secessionist architectural jewel, in the large square Marulić. Don't settle for leaving you scrutinize the stern look and inquiring of owls that decorate the roof you can visit especially the Interior and you will get a nice surprise. For a few Kuna, guided by highly trained young archivists who also speak English and sometimes Italian, you will discover the secrets of the archive built in record time in 1913, designed by architect Rudolf Lubynski, reinforced concrete and iron, all modern materials. The façade allegories of science and library science, study rooms and inside precious consultation with original lamps of the time, beautiful. Some paintings by great artists like Vlaho Bukovac, and in the great Hall a chandelier totally cinematic. Not surprisingly the store has been chosen as a set of several films, including the thriller "short night of glass dolls" by Aldo Lado. During the visit you can take photos! Needless to list all the wonderful details and extreme attention to every corner, check it out, it is worth it!

  • One of the most beautiful buildings in Zagreb. You must visit it. Amazing owl sculptures on the top of the building.
  • Beautiful building. It is Croatian National Archive and it used to be until the 1990s Croatian National Library. Great surroundings include a lot of great spots to take photos as well as a beautiful Botanical garden across the street to the South.
  • It's more beautiful from the inside than from the outside
  • Beautiful building. The jewel of architecture in Zagreb.

Lodging in Croatia's capital Zagreb maintains a high standard, with many centrally located hotels offering significant weekend discounts on their finest rooms. Hostels remain the most affordable option for budget-minded travelers visiting for a day or two, providing small but neat rooms only steps away from the city's most popular bars, clubs, and restaurants. For something a bit quieter, look for self-catering apartments and guesthouses in the city's residential neighborhoods, where you can park for free and get a good night's sleep.
