  • The Cathedral of a capital city can become a symbol, in the case of Zagreb city culturally alive and rich in stimuli would be limiting to remember the city only for its main church. It's an example of co-existence of different architectural styles, especially after the great earthquake of 1880, it was rebuilt in neo-Gothic style (so not a primitive Gothic original) as they used largely in Europe. The three aisles give a sense of uniform height, well balanced, as is typical in the neo-Gothic style. The architect who oversaw the reconstruction is Herman Bollé, great, author of other works zagabrensi including the arches of the Mirogoj cemetery. The two towers of the façade constitute the main feature and help give slenderness at all. The height of the towers exceed 100 meters. Within several works not memorable, some more important for reasons of faith that the real artistic value. Interesting a large inscription in Glagolitic.
