  • Discovered by chance in a gloomy day turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The Museum inside presents various rooms on two floors very well presented, which offer a glimpse between 700 and 800 of which point out in particular the ceramics and the environments of the time. At the time of the visit it was deserted. Unfortunately, details are in different language from Croatian to allocate the assessment it deserves.

  • Perched above the city with earth-bermed walls still intact (a moat surrounded the place, which is easy to imagine), the castle is majestic and almost surreal since there is so much greenery around it...  more »
  • Varaždin is a very cultural city, happy birthday Maria Theresa capital of Croatia. I highly recommend on the way to the sea. Sleep can be cheaply in the student dormitories at the train station. During the holidays there are no students. In the city's many art galleries, historic sites, festivals, etc. Ideally start at Stari grad in the Centre of the town (can't miss it). For children it is possible to take a bath in a nearby free of charge outdoor swimming pool Varazdinske toplice. Flooded quarry silica, thus almost drinking water in a beautiful and quiet environment. Beautiful walks are around the river Drava, flowing around the town. One of the most beautiful seasons are all souls, when is the central cemetery literally illuminated thousands of lit candles and very richly decorated tombs. The Croats are very religious nation, and on these days do not spare. Ideally here to spend a weekend on the way from the sea, but you can spend the holiday with dignity. I miss the sea, we were the only ones the Czechs:-) For the ladies there sells only Italian fashion for top prices. :-) If you need a series of write on roman.koci@seznam.cz

  • Outstanding castle in town center, great for tourists to visit, don't forget to take tour inside the castle. There is great park around castle to take some rest and enjoy in nature. All other relevant places in town are in walking distance from castle.
  • Jedan predivan i lijepo obnovljen grad. Varaždinska feudal fortress, from ancient times called Old Town, the most important historical buildings of Varazdin. It is the center of aristocratic estate, owner and legally separate from the free royal town of Varazdin. The present fort was built of 14 to 19 the century. The oldest part of the central tower. Bench and canopy in its ground floor are the most beautiful examples of Gothic secular plastic in the North Croatian. For the wars with the Turks in the 16th century, rebuilt in the Renaissance Wasserburg, a fortress – the castle is surrounded by high earthen walls with bastions, surrounded by a double belt of water. Turnover in the second half of the 16th century carried Italian architects from around Coma headed by the emperor built the fortress in the Slavonian frontier Domenico del? Lalli. During the past was having many important noble family, the Counts of Celje, John Ungnada, George of Brandenburg and Croatian Ban Thomas Erdödyja and his successors. In 1925. become the property of the city of Varazdin.
  • As a young kid growing up this was my play ground, just across the street where my family used to have home. I have fond memories of the place.
  • Unlike most of the castles that are maintained this one is a beauty. Can't miss it and you shouldn't.
  • Wonderful castle and area around castle shows history of Varazdin.
