The City Hall - Duke's Palace, Trogir

4.2
#4 of 10 in Historic Sites in Trogir
Memorable for its large clock tower facade and stunning Gothic architecture, The City Hall - Duke's Palace sits proudly in the main square of the Old Town of Trogir. First built in the 15th century as a symbol of political and economic strength of the city, it was also a residence for the duke. Gothic architectural features include a staircase in the courtyard, the winged lion of St. Mark, and many coats of arms of local families built into the walls. In the 17th century, the palace functioned as a theatre, but suffered extensive damage as a result of a fire. Subsequent architectural restorations were done in the Renaissance style. Today, the building serves as an administrative center. Choose to start, finish, or center your holiday on a trip to The City Hall - Duke's Palace by using our Trogir trip itinerary planning app .

  • There is everything here: Church, clock tower, tree, City Hall, expensive sidewalk sites, real medieval atmosphere, sometimes Dalmatian choir. To look good, but the Croatian hospitality: expensive, but s. .. (r).

  • Everyone believes that the Town Hall, or Trogir or the clock, but that is only the clock tower alongside the public Loggia. Instead the Doge's Palace is a Renaissance palace from the austere and linear, with two small balconies on the sides and one, larger, in the Center, above the main entrance. In the courtyard, where there is also a staircase in the same period leading up to the first floor, there is a well at the base of which there is a beautiful bas-relief with a famous and ancient winged Lion of St. mark. It's a bit ruined by time, and being very low to see it well you have to crouch a bit.
