  • It is a beautiful park. We did walk C which is about 5 miles and let us see most of the falls. We went in April and it was already pretty warm and crowded, but the cool breezes off the lakes were nice...  more »
  • This was truly one of the most amazing hikes I've ever done. Every turn seemed to be a new adventure. In early April, it is relatively un-crowded. Depending upon the day, you will want to bring sunscr...  more »

  • Where: Plitvice Lakes National Park - Croatia What: A hike in a forest reserve with many waterfalls How was it: This is a magnificent place, approximately one hour away from Zagreb. They have various hikes that you can choose depending on how much you want to walk and then you start exploring. I recall there was a shuttle that brought us to the starting point. Then we navigated through the paths and boardwalks, admiring the water and the falls. The water was turquoise blue, looked so delicious that we wanted to dive in but we didn't. This is something to see and we were impressed. Grade: Eli = 5, Serge = 5 Recommend: Yes, when in Croatia - check this place out.
  • This place is truly carved out of fantasy books. In autumn, it was a riot of colors paired with its beautiful lakes and waterfalls. The management did a terrific job by preserving the park and making it a hike only place. Bus/ferry help in switching between places. The wooden trail is perfect for roaming around. Avoid the traffic by starting early as it is the only thing breaking the magic.
  • Outstanding piece of nature that is preserved and well maintained. If you go on a overcast day with drizzles you get a totally different lighting that gives you beautiful photos. If you go on a Sunny day, the fish are out and happy to see you and the photos look quite dynamic I would say. It was paradise here.
  • A truly stunning national park. Everywhere you look there are amazing views. The park is divided up into separate walks depending on how you feel on the day with tracks ranging from a couple of hours up to six. There are paths throughout on all of the green trails so no muddy boots but I'd recommend something with a fairly rigid sole to save you the foot ache. There are many wooden paths over lagoons and waterfalls and none have any railings so if you're taking young children you should be wary of this. If you'd like the views without all the walking there is a ferry and a train (road car with carriages) included in the entrance fee. We chose to walk up to the top feeder lake and then take the train down but if you don't fancy that, use the train to get to the top lake then wander down. The trails are all single track so you'd have to try hard to get lost. If you're up for a walk, I couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Getting there is easy too. The bus services are regular and easy enough to deal with.
  • Words can hardly describe this wonderful nature's piece of art. It is beautiful and magical in every season. Anyway I would recommend to visit any time but summer. There are always so many people, but in summer especially.
