#6 of 8 in Outdoors in Korcula Town
Badija is the largest island in archipelago Škoji, near Korčula island in Croatia. The island is currently unpopulated. Franciscans from Bosnia came into possession of the island in 1398. They held it until 1949, when it was expropriated by the communist authorities.SourcesSamostan Uznesenja B. D. Marije

  • Rent a boat and go to Badija - it’s a nice day trip from Orebic or Korcula. The nature is almost untouched - the deers are friendly and cute - the monastery is a piece of history (the fittest should c...  more »

  • A unique island with a restaurant, monastery and deer. A perfect place for a one-day trip with family and friends. It is just 10min away from Korcula town and reachable by a water taxi.  more »

  • Beautiful place, beautiful island. But you must watch other eyes. From the time of totality, the island still recovered. Old, broken and derelict fields, mini golf and a lot of wrong notes at each other on virtually every step. It's a shame. Amazing Island/Caine planted by humans. It's my frog since 1986, when all the equipment was fully functional and pretty. At that time the monastery was used as a hotel. And it was here that I first spent his holidays by the sea. But when I came back about 30 years later, so I was not enough to wonder. If you go here sometimes, so bring a drink, but also something to eat, because the newly built Tavern has peculiar opening hours and you cannot count on that will be opened. I relied on it and I nearly died of thirst because it was closed. And also the second time around, etc........ And since I am there was a taxi, he was not an option get a jump for a drink somewhere else and I was awful to Paris and was thirsty:-) But one thing does not discourage me from a visit the next time. There are beautiful beaches, charming corners, which is worth it, despite the aforementioned negatives.

  • Dar priprode, otok tako blizu a tako daleko od Orebica i Korcule, svakako mjesto za posjetiti za one koji zele da uzivaju u moru bez guzvi.
  • The beautiful nature, the turquoise clear sea. Take good care of your transfer to the island, asking for the price of a return ticket. Map in both directions is 50 kn per person usually, if you do not run into a big bluff. Although that of overrated, for 5 min drive. On the most beautiful part of the island and the beach very early fall shade because it is on the East side of the island.

  • Nice views. The beaches of the North are in the shade. In the afternoon, with windy weather there is even chilly. Deserted monastery is overrated two chapels and cloisters and a ticket they want 15kn. On the island you can meet deer that are harmless and does not fear people. Good trip for one day, but not crazy.
